Roasted Marinara Sauce

Fresh tomatoes roasted with basil and oregano essential oils. A Sweet Retreat classic — rich, deep flavor from simple ingredients.

Ingredients

  • Fresh Roma tomatoes, halved
  • Olive oil
  • Garlic cloves
  • 1 drop basil essential oil (CPTG grade)
  • 1 drop oregano essential oil (CPTG grade)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Halve tomatoes and place cut-side up on a baking sheet. Add whole garlic cloves.
  3. Drizzle with olive oil, season with salt and pepper.
  4. Roast for 35-40 minutes until tomatoes are soft and slightly charred.
  5. Transfer to a blender or food processor. Blend to desired consistency.
  6. Add one drop each of basil and oregano essential oil. Stir well.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning.

Note: Only use CPTG (Certified Pure Tested Grade) essential oils for cooking. A little goes a long way — start with a toothpick dip if you prefer milder flavor.
